If it feels like we’ve been unusually quiet here at Jonar for the last little while, that’s because we have been. No, we weren’t all on vacation. In fact, about 3 months ago we reached a pretty cool milestone – ParagonERP’s 100th sprint release. That means we built, threw out, and rebuilt features and designs in Paragon one hundred times. After reaching this epic milestone, we decided that it was a good time to take a step back and think about the bigger picture. As a result, we decided to scale back from our bi-weekly sprint releases, and instead embark on a 90 day plan to undertake a number of enormous jobs that address the speed, performance and functionality of the software.
So what’s been going on behind the scenes these past few months?
One of the things we’re most excited about is that we were able to spend a lot of time improving the performance of Paragon’s interface. What does that mean? It means that we have seen an overall performance improvement upwards of 85%. For example, editing a transaction is 4.5 times faster than before. Changing between records is 155% faster. A much snappier interface means Paragon is now even more of a pleasure to use on a day-to-day basis.
We’ve deployed roughly 20 new features and enhancements and squashed dozens of bugs across Paragon. Highlights include:
We took on two other relatively big projects, technologically speaking. Paragon is a truly Cloud-based system that’s been hosted on Microsoft Azure servers. But we decided that one Tier One hosting provider wasn’t enough. Part of the behind the scenes work involved adding Google’s Cloud Platform (GCP) to our hosting mix. Why? To give us twice as many regional hosting options, new levels of security and to mitigate risk for you and us. GCP gives us a new, faster, more scalable, more secure server infrastructure.
So what’s next? Well, for one, we’ve moving back to our traditional two-week sprint process so we’ll be releasing new features, improvements and bug fixes regularly. We’ve also got a whole host of integrations in the pipeline. So, if you’re a fan of Paragon, keep an eye out for our product updates for details about what we’re up to in the coming weeks and months.
